Why is Meditation so Great?
Meditation forces us to slow down. With all the chaos surrounding us in this world, especially those who live in a city, it may seem like you are living in a whirlwind of stress, anxiety, and burnout. Meditation takes us away from all of that, it helps us to feel more present, in the moment, grounded, and at peace. It quiets the mind, it slows down our thoughts, and allows us to fully feel whatever it is we are feeling. It allows us to disconnect from the world, for a brief moment and just BE. Which I believe is something we all need more of these days.
The benefits of meditation are endless:
It eases stress, bringing peace.
It calms the mind, bringing clarity.
It reduces anxiety, and allows for stillness.
It releases us from the hustle and bustle of the day if done at the end of the day.
It helps us start our day with a clear head, through grounding and presence, if done in the morning before starting the day.
It can dispel fear, anger, resentment, and sadness.
It can bring forth a sense of peace, joy, and happiness.
It just makes us feel better overall in a multitude of ways, which spills over positively into our everyday lives.
And so much more...
Meditation doesn't have to go on for hours either, so don't think that it has to be some long drawn out thing in order to be of benefit. Even just taking five minutes each day to be still and be quiet, huge benefits can come of it. Plus it's a great place to start a meditation practice, in small increments, which prevents the feeling of overwhelm.
Each day, when you remember to do it, take five minutes out of your day to sit still, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Allow your thoughts to show up, but then let them go, knowing that you can come back to them later when you are ready and done with your moment of stillness. Just breathe, just BE, right there in that moment. Notice what you hear, notice what you feel, sense what is going on around you in that present moment. Just be still and take it all in, without judgement, without trying to fix it, or decide what to do with it. Just sit and BE with it, no matter what it is. For only five minutes.
Five minutes is nothing compared to the 1440 minutes we have in one day.
You can do it, I believe in you.
And if that is all you do for the rest of your life, just take five minutes each day to breathe and be present in the moment, that's okay and you will start to feel benefits from it.
However, you may like those benefits enough to start a longer meditation practice, and may want to feel that peaceful presence more often, and that would be a blessing. So please if you feel inspired to do so, once you get five minutes down, start adding more and more time to it, you can meditate for as long or as little as you wish. It is completely up to you. I am just here to share the benefits and encourage others to at least give it a try and see how they like it.
So I guide those of you who are interested, to take that first step, take just five minutes each day, and care for yourself in that moment.
Just breathe, be present, be in the moment, listen, feel, and observe without a need to change a thing, and take it all in, then let it all go, and just BE. Be still, be quiet, be one within yourself.
Feel the present, allow your cares and worries to fall away for just that moment, and just be yourself.
Blessing all.
